Fiesta handbrake problem

Over the past few weeks i have noticed that when i release the hand brake, it sounds as if i was lifting a ton of them (does that make sense?).

Anyway, not surprised but the handbrake is broken. Its stuck and can't pull it up.

It might be a related problem, but when i release the brake pedal there was a tiny squeak. It was so small you wouldn't even here it if the radio was on.

Has anyone any ideas whats going on and would it be expensive to fix it.

Sounds very much like you'll need the handbrake checked

by a mechanic because it'll need adjusting or the cable

replaced. Maybe it might even need new rear shoes. €100 all in

    for the job i'd reckon.

I'm thinking rear drums. Always give trouble on Flesta's but a cheap fix

I've got €50 on "worn shoes mean the cams have gone over centre".

I still never got around to fixing the handbrake. Just leaving it in gear when parked. I need to get 2 weeks more out of the car, so just thought il ask about my next problem and can it be easily fixed. Im guessing its something to do with the handbrake though.

For weeks the car was ok, but now one of the back wheels is locking up when i reverse. It takes loads of power to reverse. What's going on here?

Sounds like brake shoes are seizing. So you might as well be driving around with the handbrake on. Best to get it checked out. The brake shoes are cheap enough and the job should only take an hour to do both sides.
