Dental Problems

Hi, I am completely new to this so hopefully I'm posting in the right place.

Anyway, a brief background is that I am/was an extremely nervous Dental Patient. I have however plucked up the courage to go back to the Dentist to get alot of work done. Have had treatment since Christmas, one root canal treatment, two extractions, four fillings. I have to have another root canal and some implants / partial dentures etc. Anyway, my problem is that my root canal seems to have failed as I am in quite a bit of pain with this tooth and so I have decided to get it extracted.

I bit the bullet and phoned up the Dental Clinic to make an appointment and yet again, the Receptionist has made me feel very embarrassed and just like I'm puttng her out. Maybe its just me, but I actually get very nervous even phoning to make appointments. anyway, she made an appointment for me for four weeks time, which I thought was a long way away, but anyway, I took the appointment.

I am in a bit of a frazzle, because I actually get on very well with my Dentist now. I have startedto trust him, which for me is a really big thing. When I started going to him, I used to be shaking so much but now I'm not that bad at all. I am an extremely shy person and find it very difficult to have conversations with strangers, but I can actually chat away to him before and after the treatments, which at the beginning I couldn't even speak to him at all. He comes across as being very nice and caring and he explains everything to me and doesn't hurt me at all.

Anyway, could anyone maybe give me some advice as to whether you think I should just leave this Dental Clinic and arrange an appointment with another Dentist or should I just keep with this Dentist. I just don't know if its just this lady that doesn't like me, I don't know what to do. I'm so confused, but I don't like feeling that I am annoying people and maybe, I actually annoy the Dentist aswell. I don't think I do, because he is always very nice to me and he always says that I'm a very good patient. Maybe thats just the norm, I don't know, but I'm starting to get a bit paranoid now ....

Anyway, I am supposed to have another root canal treatment on another tooth and I am now thinking I might just get it extracted because I don't want to go through the pain of another failed root canal.

Can anyone tell me does it hurt to get a rct tooth extracted or is it the same as any other tooth extraction. I'm so sorry this is so long winded, but thanks if you have any advice for me, greatly appreciated.
