Hi...have an interview tomorrow for a position in Northern Ireland of 20 hrs a week?

Does anyone know how this will affect my JSA in the south?I will be driving to and from the job so will not be a resident in the north.

    thanks

    Hi linola_c

If you will be working part-time in Northern Ireland and living in Ireland, Northern Ireland is the 'competent State' under EU rules and you should apply for a payment in Northern Ireland. You will have to contact your Social Welfare Local Office to let them know you have found work in Northern Ireland.

I'm afraid I don't know much about the Northern Irish system, but if you are not entitled to a payment in Northern Ireland and the authorities there confirm this, then you can make an application again for Jobseeker's Allowance in Ireland provided you meet the conditions.

The Citizens Advice Bureau in Northern Ireland should be able to help give you an indication if you will qualify for a payment. Contact details here: http://www.citizensadvice.co.uk/en/Where-We-Are/Bureaus/
