    Hi Folks

I notice that Imagine Wi-Max is now available where I live, in Offaly. I have given up on Eircom ever making our little exchange enabled for broadband. I do have it from a mast on a hill 12km away, its 1mb download, and its good; gives what it says. But its €35 per month.

Imagine obviously have decent packages, ie 3mb for 25/mo and 7mb for 35/mo. But when I searched here I found some awful reports! Maybe people just dont report the good news, I dont know! I rang Imagine and put that to them, and they admitted that in the beginniny they over subscribed some area in Dublin, and that a lot of the posts might relate to there......

What Im asking is has it improved, and / or has anyone in the midlands a good experience of it!?

    thanks

    h

You will always find that people will be fairly vociferous in their moaning!

I've heard nightmare stories about UPC and can only sing their praises!

Sure, I dont get the full 30mb download, but only muttonheads would always expect that!

Unless you go with an uncontended line, you will NEVER get anything near the full download speed you sign up for.

All in all, Imagine are probably the best value for money out there right now.

Bye bye rip off eircom, hello Imagine :)

TBH it depends what you'll use it for. I use it as an alternative to Eircom/other wireless providers in my area and have a few problems with it but overall, its an okay service.

As well as finding people having poor experiences online with the serice, you'll also find ISP employee's trying to mislead people into thinking their service is the greatest thing ever.

If you just want it for basic Internet access, downloading an odd file, checking email browsing sites then the service is fine. If you want to use it for gaming/VOIP, it has irregular ping times and sometimes has erratic ping spikes. I have the ping on my screen constantly playing TF2 on Pc and it sometimes spikes to 800ms and I get kicked from the server I'm playing on. Access to Steam randomly goes down with it from time to time which is Imagines fault as I am in a clan and everyone else in the clan experiences no problems during this time. Their seems to be a similar problem with PSN going around for people but I have a PS3 and have not experienced it but only use my PS3 very rarely.

Its fine about 70% of the time for access to Steam.
