LTE 100Mbps: This is the PEAK speed within 2% of radius of cell, for only one user in the entire sector. Real average sector throughput is about 8Mbps over the whole radius of cell. Thus EIGHT users in sector (or 24 users on entire cell) can stream 1Mbps simultaneously. Or 12 Users evenly spread over entire cell can watch HQ YouTube (so called HD youTube) at once!

LTE can on average only deliver 1/8th of eircom's DSL and 1/30th of what will be UPC's basic package. Or about 1/7th of Digiweb Metro performance.

This is ONLY if an operator gets at least 3x 20MHz FDD channels. That's 120MHz of spectrum for ONE operator. Nearly all of MMDS band.

100Mbps is NOT the user speed except for less than 0.2% of situations.

Typical speeds only same to twice 3G/HSPA. in a 5MHz Channel.

3 claim their Network is LTE ready only needs Spectrum. Again nonsense. They would need at every base station new aerials, new Duplex filters, new LNAs, new PAs, new processing gear and 300Mbps of extra backhaul. They can't use the existing 3G gear. It's needed for years in parallel to 4G.

Also their customers need 4G modems/phones.

Also 3 would need to win a licence for all the spectrum that Comreg plans to flog probably to 3 users.

Will 3 please stop bleating about LTE and their network? It's 3G Mobile network. iHSPA+ protocols on top of 3G's W-CDMA is not LTE.

They evidently left a press release handy for weckler. Where did he get the idea that Meteor are losing their spectrum any time soon.....or more importantly that they have any 900mhz spectrum of note ????

Even Vodafone have their 900mhz until 2013 and O2 theirs until 2011.
