Mac Mini to linux powered HTPC ??

i dont own a mac mini yet, but if i was to buy one is it possible to overwrite the whole system with a linux os of my choice, i dont want to build anything myself, i just like the size of the mac mini, its an all in one, and would look sweet on a shelf, not a fan of osx either
