Anyone interested in tennis betting ? Plenty of value to be had in the earlier rounds but it looks like its Nadal's to lose this year

Just looking through the betting and I think it's worth noting that Laddies and Skybet are the only ones going 1/2 the odds for outright each way, all the rest going 1/3...
Agree that's Nadal's to lose but maybe he's a little short atm.

My picks for the French Open:

    Men's Singles - Serena Williams

    Women's Singles - Rafael Nadal

    :pac:

I've a few quid on Soderling and Wozniacki.

Has Nadal dropped a set yet...was 9/1 to not drop a set the whole tournament with PP pre-tournament, i missed it and they'd only offer me 12/5 then on the phone, which is a joke.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭digme

That price is terrible isn't it,considering he hardly dropped a set all season.
Nadal dropping a set is akin to our beloved mary harney going on a diet. :D

Not sure if anyone's noticed this but, it seems a lot of players are losing the third set when they are up 2-0, a handy bet for me so far is over 3.5 sets.

Pyro what are your thoughts on Verdasco? He's my favourite player :)
And he's on fire at the moment.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,754 ✭✭✭x PyRo

Not totally clued up on the tennis nowadays, I only back and watch Wimbledon. I like Verdasco and always liked watching his games but I wouldn't be able to tell you much more, He's exciting to watch anyways. :D Nadal is only 2/5 best price to win this. Half tempted to lay him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭digme

I'm only a new comer myself, but I've been watching it solid for 2 or 3 years.Ya he's brilliant isn't he,he was injured there for awhile but he still fights as if his life depended on it and wins, very tough player.Hard for anyone to beat nadal lately though, might be a good bet to lay him for the craic :)

Roddick match just started, could be worth laying him as he's terrible on clay and had hardly any preparation for this years tournament

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭digme

I see roddick has lost the first set.I really like him, hope he can turn it around, good luck with your bet though.Been watching the williams match myself, she's struggling in the second set really bad,she is 'feeling dizzy, she said.

I was left cursing my luck today, I had my whole bank on Youzhny to beat Tsonga because first of all Tsonga is rubbish on clay and I'd hear a few whispers about him being injured so I lumped on. I had Youzhny at evens and stood to get back a 4 figure sum. All was going well in the first set Youzhny 5-2 up but then Tsonga calls down his doctors plays one more game and then retires

Haha no it was just a once off bet really, I take my tennis betting pretty seriously so when I saw the value in the prices and that bit of inside information it was too good to pass

haha he's mine too now! i won today on almagro beating him @2.14 before the game, verdasco had beens struggling with a blister.

good tournament for me so far; had Gabashvili to beat roddick @5 too.
Currently have nadal not to lose a set.
    Havent made any other bets.
Have a guy giving me good tips. I'll pass the next few on here if anyone is interested

If you suspect that a player is carrying an injury you should always bet with Betfair or a bookie who pays out once a set has been completed.

Youzhny was 1.97 on Betfair and all backers were paid out as there was a set completed.

    Different bookies, different rules.

Some pay out once the first set has been complete.
