When all is said and done actions count more than words and the OECD's accpetance of Israel into memebeship of the organisation speaks volumes for its members real opinion of this small state. :
    .
OECD countries agreed today to invite Estonia, Israel and Slovenia to become members of the Organisation, paving the way for the Organisation’s membership to grow to 34 countries. “Estonia, Israel and Slovenia, along with Chile that has just deposited its instrument to become a full member, will contribute to a more plural and open OECD playing an increasingly important role in the global economic architecture,” OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría said.

Do you welcome israel's membership of the OECD or not ?

    With open arms.

I don't. According to wikipedia the OCED is "a forum of countries committed to democracy and the market economy" when did Israel show the Palestinian democracy when they took their land?

.... and don't tolerate the wasters and bead thumbers.

What exactly is a 'bead thumber'?

Well Israel supports the Palestinian Arab state's existence, while the Palestinian Arab state has not until very recently recognised the existence of the Jewish state.

But its best not to get hung up on the past. Israel joins and the invitation should be extended to the surrounding middle eastern countries. Once in the OECD, they will be turfed out if they start a conflict, and hopefully prosperity will bring peace.

I'm just surprized, given their close associations with the US and EU, that they weren't a member sooner.

So what you're actually saying is
    With open arms.

Smart people able to look after themselves and don't tolerate the wasters and muslims.

    Shalom!

...why do you think it's ok not to tolerate a specific religion? This is particularily pertinent given the fact that roughly 20% of Israels population is apparently of that particular faith.

Let's go over it from the start
    With open arms.

Smart people able to look after themselves and don't tolerate the wasters and bead thumbers.

    Shalom!
    (my bold)

Having not heard that one before, and preferring not to speculate, I asked

What exactly is a 'bead thumber'?

...to which you - rather helpfully - supplied a link. According to that
    Worry Beads and Religion

Many people such as Arabs (Christan and Muslim) and Buddhists tie religion in with worry beads. Arabs, for example, have 33 or 99 beads on theirs, which represent either the 33 years of Christ's earthly existence, or the 99 holy names of Allah.

Now here I did speculate, in that I presumed you were referring to the more numerous Arab muslims, rather than Arab christians. You could of course be referring to both/Arabs in general, but that doesn't read too well either. It could be buddhists, but thats highly unlikely. Hence the post.

Man, you have to loosen up.

Most of us can variate our prose to initiate a point of view without using a frikken sledgehammer.

You should practice that technique, might be more effective in subliminal propaganda circles some of you guys circulate in;)

What? No they don't and this map proves it.
But its best not to get hung up on the past. Israel joins and the invitation should be extended to the surrounding middle eastern countries. Once in the OECD, they will be turfed out if they start a conflict, and hopefully prosperity will bring peace.
The past shapes the present. Palestinian people are still second rate citizens in the land Israel stole form them. The only claim Jews have on this land is based on a book wrote 3000 years ago.

No idea what thats about. I 'variate my prose' so people understand what I'm on about. It may not always work, but I'm always glad to clarify.

Now, would you care to 'variate" your prose and explain exactly what you meant, or do I just take it I was correct?

No state involved in colonialism has any place in any such organisation.

I have to agree with Nodin here, your just getting annoying now.

So I'm going to ask you again, and this time I hope I will get an answer. What is a thumb bender ?

I would hazard an educated guess that arms was one of the reasons for their admittance. Money talks etc.

Well Israel supports the Palestinian Arab state's existence, while the Palestinian Arab state has not until very recently recognised the existence of the Jewish state.

Israeli's in the past often stated their support for a "Palestinian state". However the location of said state was often somewhere other than the West Bank and Gaza.
Many Israeli's supported "transferring" the inhabitants of the Occupied Territories to Jordan to create a new "Palestinian state".

This is why the latest peace negotiations always say: "Palestinian State in the West Bank and Gaza"

On the other hand, Netanyahu's preferred solution in the 90s was for Israel to annex the West Bank and Gaza and populate them with Jewish settlers. The Palestinian population would be allowed remain in their current towns and villages but would have no political rights beyond control of the immediate surroundings of these settlements. And this does seem to be the policy that the Israeli's have been implementing for the last few decades.

So essentially you believe the state of Israel has no tolerance for muslims and you think this is a good thing, despite the fact it's neigbours and a large number of its own population share that religion. Fine.

The real irony being of course the fact that it was yourself that brought the 'British' into the thread.

    :)
