Anyone heard anything more about the kids condition?

It happened right outside my front door on Saturday afternoon, just hoping and praying that he's gonna be ok.

Obviously it happened before 9.30, any idea what time it happened at?

Around 3.30, took the ambulance about 20 minutes to get there though.

He was unconscious for that entire time but there was a nurse/doctor with him who happened to be in the area at the time.

He can't have been any older than 11 or 12, absolutely heartbreaking.

I don't understand why they don't keep an ambulances on standby throughout the city. It might have reduced those 20 minutes.

I mean if they had one ambulance around Lismore park, another in Ferrybank etc etc it would cut down the time hugely.

Its horrible that whenever there is a nice weekend we have a tragedy, whether out in Tramore, or elsewhere. I just hope he can make a full recovery.

20 minutes  thats disgraceful to just drive down dunmore rd and up william st onto the qauy .... i did hear the cops wanted a garda escort for the ambulance but for such a serious accident i would not of expected such a delay in gettin into the city . i hope the lad recovers .

That is an appalling response time...Now i understand what the Government mean by a need to increase efficiencies in the public service.

I hope the young lad makes a full recovery.

Was it a Garda car involved, the reason i ask is the garda use barker st,jail st like a race track going to and from the station even in their own car's and is only a matter of time before they (garda) kill someone followed by a cover up and a promotion for the driver.20 minutes is about right for a developing country such as our's.LYNCHWOOD

The reason for poor response times is the government,

remember that it could be any one of us waiting for an ambulance, so if you are worried or annoyed, then, write to your local TD and ask for more ambos and funding for the ambulance service!

THE teenager who was injured in a crash on Saturday, June 22, remains in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital.

David Harding struck a car whilst travelling on his bicycle at Thomas Street in the city. The 16year-old from Killian’s Place, in Ferrybank, has been in a coma since the day of the accident, after he sustained serious head injuries.

His devastated parents Carol and Lee, brother Sean and other family members, are continuing to keep a bedside vigil for the popular teenager.

His shocked and saddened classmates from fifth year in the Abbey Community College have been gathering in prayer for his recovery, while Principal Tommy Lannigan has described him as “a very pleasant student” who is “very well liked”.

No details still as to how did the accident happen.

I don't like the phrase that he 'struck a car'. It implies he was at fault.

I wonder what the full facts of the story were. I'd prefer they said he was 'involved in an accident'.

Another example of poor reporting in fairness,
THE teenager who was injured in a crash on Saturday, June 22, remains in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital.

So he travelled into the future and was in an accident?
Cycling at 88mph I suppose it was bound to happen

Hope the poor chap will be ok, has to be a very hard time for his parents :(

Poor guy, terrible and I wonder what actually happened.

But hey, who cares? Life is hardly valued in this country, can do a double murder and get 13 years (max) in jail or beat the hell out of someone and get the auld manslaughter charge.

An incident like this is not going to get much airplay... its only a story if its a child of some TD or other "dignatory"
