Lakes/Freshwater Swimming Near Dublin?

Hi, I love swimming in the sea, but sea water gives me rash if I don't shower as soon as I get out of the water, so I don't swim on Irish beaches due to the lack of showers. I am wondering if there is anywhere with freshwater I could swim near Dublin? Anywhere in the mountains or that? I could go to a pool but I want to swim outside in this weather!

Avon Ri (Blessington)is right beside a lake, and have showers in there pool area right beside lake....Its a tough call....Thats all I can think of. I was out at Killiney today and they have a tap which you can wash down after a swim. Its pretty basic, fill a bucket and pour over you etc....

Water today was lovely, I was surprised at how nice it was. It was cold but not artic.

Have your thought about bringing a couple of bottles of water with you so that you can wash down with after you had a swim?

Yea I think it would take more than a few bottles of water though! Somewhere with a tap would be perfect, never thought some beaches might have taps. Thanks for the heads up!

There is a shower at Seapoint. It's cold water & outdoors but it's fine... in fairness after a sea swim it's perfect!

Thanks for that! I don't know the southside beaches at all, as far as I know the Northside ones don't have showers.

Portmarnock has a couple of taps. 1 at the toilets & 1 on the green area infront of Lallys near the country club!
