I remember being told years ago that it was bad to go swimming before playing football or GAA, something to do with muscles......

Is there any truth to this or logical reasoning behind it?

    How soon before?

Never heard of anything like that. I used to swim quite a bit at lunchtime, then do muay thai in the evening. Never noticed any ill effects.

    Cheers guys.
I remember years ago(vaguely) a GAA coach being upset with a few of us for coming straight from the swimming pool to play a match.
It was something to do with our muscles being relaxed from the swimming.

May not be true but was looking for some confirmation either way as I play football some evenings and would also like to bring the young man swimming earlier, without any ill-effects .
Cant find too much info on it.
