Hi, Does anyone know where i can buy Bontrager Wheel Frames? i also have a Trek 1.2 road bike was thinking about upgrading the whole Brake / Gear System on it to a Shimano Dura-Ace7900 which would cost me €1500,

Is it Worth putting €1500 on a Trek 1.2 Frame? or should i go away and buy a Better bike Frame and then put the parts on?

The bontrager wheel you may be able to get on online stores such as wiggle.

I think dura ace or even ultegra is too much for the 1.2 frame. My first road bike, and now commuter was a trek 1200. Fantastic bike and frame but the stock 105 mix that comes with it is perfect. If you want to upgrade, get new wheels first and then perhaps a new frame. You wont notice the difference between 105 and ultegra and even less between ultegra and dura ace (mostly just slightly lighter components)

    What's a wheel frame?

I would say it is very much not worth putting DA on a 1.2. Gears will not make you faster. All they'll do is make the bike fractionally lighter (less important than we like to admit) and make for slicker changes (which has very little effect of your actual speed).

A frame, or light/aero wheels would probably be a better upgrade.

    or

Save your pennies and put the 1500 towards a whole new dream bike, then keep the 1.2 as a spare/winter bike.

Do Shimano claim that there is any difference in shift or braking quality between 105 and DA?

I believe that SRAM maintain some functional differences between their groups, like front mech trim and "zero loss", not sure what the deal is with Shimano.

FWIW, I once did a drop bar conversion on a very cheap hybrid frame and used Ultegra road components. Weight wasn't a concern, but at the time the Ultegra crankset was particularly good looking. Whatever butters your muffin :)

Don't do it. Complete waste of money. Look to upgrade the whole bike including the frame.

Buying a nice wheelset is a good option as you can easily transfer that over to a new bike when you get it.

was looking at the Trek Madone 4.9 down in a bike shop in Cork for 3199Euro down in Victoria Cross Cycles or looking at a Boardman Road Bike Pro Carbon down in Halfords for 1999Euro

what frame would you rate if one was going to build a bike top to bottom? Was looking at the Aeolus 9.0 for the Front Wheel and a Carbon Disc Wheel for the back, I seen a few with Disc Wheels but not as many are they good for speed?

Shimano claims are faster Shift between gears with a 10 Speed System.

Its just my bike is the 2008 Edition so its getting old. and its Starting to make Clicking sounds when its at low gears which does my head in.

For competitive time trialling or triathlon, yes. For anything else, no.

2008 is not old, that bike will last decades if properly maintained. A mechanic can sort the clicking noises. Bike components wear out. When they do, you should replace them, not buy a new bike.

I understand, that they Wear down. I'll like to Get a hold on a Faster More Lighter bike which the 2.1 isn't.
