I've a Sky package at home in Belfast and one in a holiday home in Donegal - it's costing me a fortune and am considering dumping/changing the Donegal set up.

What free view system would you recommend that I plug into the Donegal set up?
Can I use the Northern box in Doengal?

get rid of the sub in Donegal.

(just remove the card and reboot the box to find out exactly what channels)

you can bring your box from Belfast when you are going to Donegal.

You could use 1 card (and subscription) in both boxes for all but the premium channels. you would, as the previous poster stated need to bring the box tthat the card is paired to if you want the premium channels in the second location.

Which part of Donegal is the holiday home, If its NW Donegal, then Freeview (which is a service through an aerial) is not an option because of distance an the mountains. Usually I recommend Freesat and a terrestrial aerial to the holiday homes in our area, as its madness to have a dedicated subscription service for a holiday home. Some have tried just bringing their card with them but it has led to problems and they end up getting freesat instead, Problems are that the people left at home have no TV if the card is gone, They also forget the card and leave it behind them.

One of the other reasons I don't recommend that holiday home owners get a SKy subscription is that, Sky sends an update signal to a SKY card every month or so, If that card misses this update it may take 24hrs to update and work, so if you come down to your holiday home for a weekend you could be without SKY for half of the time.

Get a dedicated Freesat box and an aerial for the Irish channels.

If your home is in our area which is NW Donegal send me a PM if you need any other help

your 2nd. Skybox, without a card, will work fine as a FTA Box and will give you 95% of the same channels as a 'Freesat' Box.

None, just cancel the Sky subscription and continue to use the Sky box for FTA channels.

Yes, you can. Just bring it with you and swap the boxes.

That used work with the blue card. The white card will show nothing if it's not in the box it's paired with.
