I had what I always thought would have been my final NCT last night, 1981 BMW 6 series under new law cars newer than 31/12/79 not exempt + has to be NCT'd annually. (was well pleased though with the clean sheet/no visuals)
Tester brought car back & said all perfect, handed over paperwork & cert. Only when home I noticed that NCT says 2012, last month I NCT'd a 1990 6 series & that cert says 2011. Anyone know reason for 2 yr. NCT on the '81 or have I missed something?

    Cheers,
    Paul:confused:

The every year thing doesn't come into effect until June 11

Was the 1990 6 series previous Nct out by a year? Like previous post annual nct won't be in till middle of next year.

Nct cert doesn't go by the date the test was carried out but by the 1st date of registration and therefore on when test is actually due and backdated to this date. Hope you can understand this!

and just to clarify thats june 2011 and not 11th just as I had first read that...
think of the even number off numbers
if I NCT my 84 car not ill get an NCT till 2012. If i do it next Jan Ill still only get an NCT till 2012. So no matter when I NCT my car next year I only get 1 year.
Its a bit of a nusiance really, just an extra bill every year now and more money got the gov.... they need their private jets and alll like...

Yep, point 3 in the our very own Classic Cars Charter :p

Anything due a NCT prior to 1st June 2011 will get a "two year" ticket.
