Just picked a copy of Red Dead Redemption in HMV for €44.99
game comes with FREE Blu Ray copy of the movie 3.10 to Yuma
no idea what the movies like, but it stars Russel Crowe and Christian Bale!

Smyths are 54.99, Gamestop 49.99 (without free blu ray)not sure of Game and Zavvi's price, but seems like a reasonable deal via HMV!

Now all I need is a blu ray player......

Or anyone looking bluray pm me!

This has all been covered in the various threads in the Console Forums.

The HMV deal is the best by far... it's the same price (€44.99) for both PS3 and Xbox. But apparently, the XBox 360 version is better in terms of visuals and framerate: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/05/20/read-red-redemption-ps3-vs-360/

Have my PS3 copy pre-ordered (with Blu-ray) in HMV for collection at lunch.

    PS - it's a great movie actually!

EDIT: Changed title to be a bit more descriptive!

doesnt affect me or anything but just wondering have they offered the dvd version of the movie(or maybe 2 dvds of choice) for xbox owners without bluray players or a ps3?

    No.. only the Blu-ray unfortunately!

I've said it elsewhere - but I kinda don't get why they're giving Blu-ray's to Xbox owners! :D

I know it's possible they also have Blu-ray players but it's a tad odd!

They give you a blu Ray to convert all you sorry xbox owners to the true path of gaming, ie the PS3 :)

    - stands back and waits for the row to start ;)

To be fair, R* have dropped the ball on the PS3 version.

I'm tempted to ask for the Xbox version instead after reading the comparison between the two games (PS3 runs at lower resolution, poorer frame rate etc).

And just like that, the row finishes! ;)

AFAIK HMV were meant to be giving 800 MS points to pre-orderers of the 360 version and Yuma for PS3 pre-orders but this advertisement appeared to be taken down from their website on Wednesday or Thursday so there must have been a problem with it.

My local HMV weren't actually advertising the free Blu-ray.. I heard about it elsewhere and had to ask.

There was an advertisement on the shelve saying they were offering the free War-Horse and 800MSP alright.

Gamestop is actually 44.99 as well. Preorders came with the soundtrack.

Don't have a blu-ray player so have no nead for 3:10 to Yuma

Any idea why Amazon are charging completely different prices for the 360 and PS3 versions?

    360 - £34.99
    PS3 - £57.44

In fact, since today the PS3 version has actually risen in price, it was £42 for the past few days. Now I'm actually going to have to get up and go get the game myself! :P

Good to see some low prices in HMV and Gamestop for what is no doubt a Game of the Year candidate.

Now that you mention it, I bought the Xbox version in gamestop an hour ago and it was 44.99 but the ps3 boxes were priced 54.99

Could be because there is stock shortages of the PS3 version.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭abelard

Silly question maybe, but do HMV do any decent trade-in deals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

They ran out of stock of '3:10 To Yuma' on Blu-ray in Sligo early this morning!

Am not that bothered as it's still the cheapest place to get the game as far as I'm aware.

You mean they ran out of stock of '3:10 to Yuma' in your local HMV too?

Just to clarify so you don't mean they ran out of stock of the game as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,544 ✭✭✭Hogzy

Propbably because there is such a short supply of the PS3 version, high demand+short supply=price increase

He means that there is stocking issues on PS3 especially due to supplier issues.

MCV understands the game – released today – is suffering supply problems across the channel, with the PS3 version being the worst affected.

Reps at Blockbuster, GAME and HMV stores have all told MCV they have run out of PS3 copies and 360 versions are running low – some directly blamed ‘supplier issues’ for the stock drought.

Sold out of the blu ray in Kilkenny store early this morning too, kind of annoying as I was looking forward to watching it. How many blu rays did they have, about 5??

I heard that.. but I'm yet to hear of someone not getting a copy though. Certainly not one person has mentioned it over on the three or so threads on the various console forums.

My local HMV was crammed with plenty of copies on the 360 and PS3 - the free Blu-ray however..

I have the same suspicion.. the guy in the Sligo store said they were gone very quick this morning.

Yeah Im a bit peed off with it, I only have a couple of blu rays so a free addition is very welcome :P

Anyone in dublin have any problems with the blu ray? Have a feeling us "lesser" known counties didnt get anywhere near as many of the blu rays as places like dublin or cork :(. I was tempted to check the shelves for the blu ray but didnt bother.

I think that's exactly what happened..

.. recall someone saying in one of the other threads there was still plenty available in HMV Liffey Valley, but in saying that there was apparently none in Blanchardstown.

Might just be a case of poor allocation of stock.

I pre-ordered the PS3 version yesterday and got into HMV in the Crescent SC (Limerick) at 10.30 this morning and noticed that on all of their RDR advertising stands, they had a printed notice on each of them saying that 3:10 to Yuma was out of stock. However when I got to the till and gave him my name, he had a whole bunch of preorders in a drawer with a blu ray attached, each with the name of whoever pre-ordered so maybe they only had a limited number regardless. I was happy enough to get it anyway.

Had the game and I could see some copies of 3:10 to yuma but they were attached to some PS3 pre-orders (I pre-ordered on xbox) I asked for it but they said it's only on PS3 - which I know is bull**** but I couldn't be arsed kicking up a fuss.

    That's what annoyed me.. I pre-ordered it on PS3 and still didn't get a Blu-ray.

I'd say (in the Sligo store anyways) they gave away Blu-ray's on a first-come-first-served basis, as opposed to those who pre-ordered.

I hate to bitch about a good deal and in fairness HMV are always coming up with the best prices, but a poorly run good deal is a waste of time.

When I was in Sligo getting it, another assistant opened a cupboard behind them and took out a copy with the blu ray and gave it to another customer. When I asked the guy serving me if they had the dvd, he said they only had it left for those who had pre-ordered. So one of us was lied to :)
