Credit Union account for kids

We set up credit union accounts for our kids a few years ago, and throw a few quid into it whenever possible.
Because the interest rate is terrible, is it possible to move this money out of their accounts and into a better saving account (eg An Post savings certs)

Or because the accounts are their and not ours, are we prevented from doing this ?

My kids have a credit union account and I think they get a better interest rate rather than the post office tbh.
