Does a psychology degree qualify you for care assisting?

I recently finished my degree in psychology and would love to do care assisting for a few years before I apply for a masters in counselling. I've looked into a few courses, and I've been watching the job opportunities for care assistants. Most ask for a Level 5 Fetac qualification in care assisting, but some just ask for experience. Would a psychology degree work with experience, or would I need to do a course in care assisting?

I'm sure it depends on each company but I finished my degree in Psychology last year and was offered a job as a care assistant straight after with no experience but decided it wasn't for me. Also during my undergrad degree a girl in my class was working as a care assistant part time before she had even finished.
