Colm Parkinson is just bitter. Micko got the best out of a decent team.

was he dropped by micko or did they fall out..?

What did they win under Micko?
    one Leinster final?
and had to sell land at O'Moore Park to pay for it.

Thats the sort of bull **** you get from this guy and no respect for a man that lifted them, might not have won a lot and we as neighbours were sick of hearing them crow too but he did make them at least competitive

Wary as I am of the rules of the board about slating any county I still think I am justified in saying that that particular Laois team were not liked by anyone I have ever met - and I am not just talking Dubs. The arrogance and the hype and vulgarity that surrounded them was unheard off and it spilled over into a section of the support and this is just in the same vien.

It was however a rather wonderfull motiviation tool for two great results by Dublin against them. Hair Gel, Perms and Moisterisor included.

Id take whatever colm Parkinson says with a pinch of salt wouldn be a whole lot going on upstairs. He was a seriously talented footballer and wasted it. He is now playing his football in dublin and to say he is a disgrace on the pitch is an understatement. He mouths from the minute the balls is thrown in untill full time, threathens players etc Dublin football isnt like this players go out and get stuck in hit hard etc shake hands at the end and have respect for opponents no need for mouths like Parkinson. He is a small man so maybe bit of small man syndrome or bitterness at not been anywhere near the player he had the potential to be.

It's hard to know who's opinions I respect more this man:
    http://www.rte.ie/sport/2004/1116/parkinson.html

or someone who has won this:
    Honours
    As player

    Kerry
    As manager
Shame on the newspaper for printing it in the first place.

Having had first hand experience of him 6 days ago,it is fair at least to say that he is a right mouthpiece.

O Dwyer had speculated that that Laois team were on the booze during championship and that they were nt motivated enough.I think this is where O Dwyer and Parkinsons problem may have started and ended.

Used to love Parkinson just because he was the only player to have ridiculous hair.

Terrible report in the indo.It makes out that Parkinson is just slating Micko. If anyone listened to the programme Bernard Jackman,Parkinson and Roddy Collins talked on a variety of sporting subjects. It didnt seem like Parkinson was having a dig at Micko he was just making an observation and saying that Micko's celebrity status seems to intimidate the opposition. Then Roddy Collins compared Micko to Trapatoni and they had a conversation about that.No body gave out about this bit??Was blown way out of proportion.Way way over the top.His statement about Munster supporters was more controversial but he has a good point about Leinster born and breed people supporting munster ahead of leinster in rugby terms.just cause Parkinson has been controversial in the past anything he says in the press is blown out of proportion and twisted to how it would read the worse possible. The media in this country are awful.Parkinson's only problem is he is honest and speaks what is on his mind right or wrong!Whats so wrong with that??If more of our politicians were like this the country might be a bit of a better place. He may lack a bit of tact that is all. That was a light hearted conversational about sport in general and how it ended up in the national papers the way it did is a disgrace!

you forgot the Tommy Murphy Cup for WW in 2007 in that honours list.... ;)

not to mention getting WW to the last 12 in the Championship last year ...no mean feat

I do wonder about Micko though -how he does it? - he has the lads out doing 25 laps etc etc where there's zero benefit physiologically but I suppose mentally it must count for something

    plus, the intangible "Micko factor"

A lot of success in football and in sport in general comes down to commitment, hard work and belief and that's what Wicklow have in droves under Mick O'Dwyer.

Well most GAA managers are and they don't have near the success he does!
Also, he'd need something good to motivate those drives from Kerry!

Hard to say who is paid and who is not , above and beyond expenses, but..............

200 odd miles from Waterville to say Aughrim for a training session. Say at 1 euro per mile expenses, €400 to attend a training session less diesel and wear and tear on the car, not bad money at all. And maybe a phantom training session or journey here or there?

Not to doubt Mickos committment to the GAA and his results but, not bad money for doing something you really love to do.

the lines my hymn sheet is getting a bit blurred, just like a lot of the high profile managers.

In a way, can you blame them? Although against the GAA amateur status, look at the high profile players who have used their profile to set up
businesses and trade in on their name and profile, and in a way, put in much
harder work and tend to give up much more to the detriment of work and family and personal life due to their younger age?

Not knocking anyone, player or manager for getting what they can after
their committement to county and gave me hours of pleasure. In fact, I deal with a former county player for a service, a bit more dear, but I reckon I am paying him back a bit for that committment and pleasure he gave me, and lets not forget, tis only the high profile players get this added bonus.

Micko is not only a legend in his own sport, he is a legend in any sport. He gave me a summer last year that a lot of people will never forget. And who knows this year ? We can go far again.

I havent been to Mass in 20 years but if Micko set up a church Id be there every day.
