The HSE has cut the budget for the Brother of Charity in galway by €2 million (this exclude the €4.5 million they have saved due to pay cuts). This comes after they cut there budget in 2009 by €1.7 million.
They have lost 16 positions due to the ban on recruitment
They are going to lose another 20 positions in 2010.
The brother of charity are going to have to close down community houses because of these cuts and are going to have to stop giving respite to Family’s that are at breaking point.
To think that HARNEY spent €36 k on flights , food and BOOZ on a trip to Newzeland.
This is what those ass****s in Government are doing to your public service and Cowen has the cheek to say “we will protect the most Vulnerable “

Please define how you plan to save the 20 Billion EUR that is missing in the budget and we'll talk, ok?

And how much have you given to them to help out the service?

I realise this is a horrible but you have to realise that 20BN has to be cut from the budget. However much waste is in the public sector there certainly isn't 20BN. This means that services must be cut/reduced. There is no way to avoid hardship. This is reality as unpleasant as it is. There are probably more equitable ways to cut the budget but unfortunately in this climate it tends to be that the easiest & quickest things to cut get cut. The brothers of charity are a seperate body which are funded by the HSE if I remember correctly, therefore it's fairly easy to just chop the number instead of having to deal with the other issues. Also this was not Harney's call. It would have been HSE West I presume. I feel unclean after sticking up for Harney.

They will be sacked at the next election. That's its purpose.

4.5 million in pay cuts? In a charity? That sounds odd to say the least.
I never would have a guessed a charity I never heard of in Ireland would have that kind of spare cash.
Forgive me, but this sounds like someone was creaming it. It sounds like the charity has some worthy causes outside of that, and if the above can be explained I might be onside.

Ouch. Can't see a particular point to this thread as opposed to any other "the government are bad" thread, and we have plenty of those.

BeeDI, please don't do that again.

    moderately,
