alot of people search for such a thing online. Google adwords may be of benefit to you. There is one business that i know of that get 80 percent of their business from adwords and they cant sell their service online, similar to yourself.

    Regards

A feature in a few local papers?

Seek out local play areas where kids have birthday parties. The moms and dads are always waiting around in the cafes or waiting room of those places. Also checkout afterschool activities areas.

Leaflets/Discounts passed around a few primary schools. Parents nearly always have either other kids or know other parents.

Get on google local business listings if you're not.

an editorial/feature type article in your local press

think carefully about how you use leaflets, target an area, it is better to deliver a leaflet to the same houses for a few months than to put through the door of every house in the area once

Google, Facebook, Flyers, childcare websites... Facebook is great for interacting with parents etc. Google is just great in general.

Advertise on all the childcare websites, most of them do free adds... a few are worth the paid adds. They're always worth haggling with, for instance.. I got a free listing on a local directory in exchange for advertising it on a bunch of flyers I was printing...

We've been running a montessori for near 5 years now and by and far the best advertising is word of mouth...

Have a family day, sponsored walk in the local park or similar and email all the local papers n they might feature you. We did just that and got a full page spread in a local Gazette, a tiny add in the same paper cost €400....

Facebook ads can be used to target potential customers very effectively. You can aim them at parents in your catchment area only. You only pay per click as well.

    Good luck!

    Facebook - crap!

    In no particular order:
Local Press (esp in outside Dublin)
Again if outside dub - have a look at local radio - don't freeze- get prices first and then decide.
Flyers - spend some time on design - full colour - proper paper.
Apply for permanent/temporary Signage - if its on any sort of traffic volume area
Web presence - get the location in the titles and in copy.
I would have said Directory ads, about 3 years ago!
If you have a vehicle - brand it (professionally)

Don't agree with you about facebook... Its great if you use it right, I spend €12 a week on it and it brings me some great business...
Don't use Google anymore as I find facebook brings in more business

Local press adds are fairly expensive, tried one once.. €350, found it to be a waste of time.

Radio, she's based in D.15 so any Dublin radio station is gonna be crazy expensive

Branded vehicle is a great way to advertise tho, if its done right.. Those little magnet signs people get are a waste cause u can't read the bloody things...

Flyers are great for spreading the word, we did a flyer run around the local village during the summer last year. Feedback was so good we started a second class to accommodate the extra numbers

I think you might do yes, a Garda permit I think. Something to do with litter laws. Check on that though. Handing out leaflets is probably the least targeted form of advertising out there though - unless you're hitting your target market!

Definitely Facebook should be in your plan - completely free and effective.

Thanks, I know what you mean about the leaflets, but I was going to stand outside the 3 local primary schools within walking distance from my house/business and hand them out to parents. Also I was going to put a sticker on my leaflets (already printed) advertising an open day and a discount for all enrollments before a certain date.

When you say facebook is free, what do you mean? I looked into it and it seemed to be a pay per click thing, like google

Its free to setup a fan/group/business page on Facebook. You can the advertise that page or website on facebook which you gotta pay for...

Have the page is great, get parents to join up.. great way of sharing information with them etc.

Yes, plus whenever a person 'likes' your page (i.e. becomes a fan) then this story appears in their friend's news feed (a list of updates) - meaning your page can potentially be viewed by hundreds of other people. Viral marketing at its best!

    How about the following.

Think about your targets and where people bring them to IE Children.

Pregnant women go to Gynaecologists so get your details into the local clinics, Check with the local hospitals for a list of the Doctors and contact them directly.

In relation to other opportunities try the local health boards all have public health nurses who if you did an open day for may refer your place over another.

    hope this helps
