Ok, I have moved here from the UK, I have reregistered my car I know what my new reg number is but how do I now tax it with out any new paperwork? or do I need to wait until all the paperwork comes in the mail? Is there any leway in this? can I drive it without tax for a limited time?

You should have got a form RF100 when you registered it, you can tax it with that.

Nothing yet, just got the number emailed to me and all the paperwork is in the post. My plates are being made today can I use the car and tax it in a couple of days when the paperwork arrives?

Technically no, but you might get an understanding Garda if you hit a checkpoint. I wouldn't leave it anywhere where a parking warden might ticket it, though.

It has been mentioned here in the past that for a newly registered car you can tax it online and use the last 6 digits of the VIN as your pin number. I haven't tried this myself though.
