Hi folks, hope someone can help.

Have an 5 yr old Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop & the screen has given up.
I can still make it out when I shine a torch on it. Can't afford repair bill or new laptop just now.

Any advice appreciated on cables & if I need to change settings to output to tv etc

    Thanks

Is it possible to connect up to my tv (LG) & use this as the monitor. Any help appreciated on if possible & what cables I need & settings I may need to change.
    Thanks

THIS is the part you need to buy to fix your screen. THe 6400/6000 is pretty easy to take apart. I've done it numerous times without issue, once you replace that part it'll be fixed.

If you're tv has a VGA in then yes you can use it as a monitor just plug it in!

USE fn key plus prbly ,f5, f7 or f8 ,f9 to change to external vga mode.
See www.svideo.com for more info, set res to 720x576,old tv, or 1024x768 for hdtv.Read tv manual for best pc to tv resolutions, set refresh rate to 60mhz on the pc.
you,ll need male to male vga cable 9 euro approx in peats or maplins.
