Am I being negative?

Oh great AH Mods, I beseech thee, I beg of thou, do not move this, thou dost have infinite wizendom, and I dare not doubt this, but I beg of thou mercy.

    (Snigger) Mods have no mercy.

    Anyhoo.

    Am I being negative?

Had a check up in the hopsickal on Monday, the first one in about 6 years, and after a couple of minutes poking at me, ze doktor informs me that I'll probably have to come back in for another surgery, that a procedure I had some time ago, which, as far as I was aware, had an air of finality about it, was only a temporary measure.

If I have this operation, that means at least a month of work, at the very least. The last time I had a similar one done, I missed second year in school.

So I'm a bit worried about that.

    THEN

I'm in the middle of buying a house. (Go me, and before I get laid in upon, no I'm not a civil servant) Fine, thats all lovely and ****. Snag list brought up some issues, and now I find out that its going to cost about €20k to get the damn thing up to code. Now I know my solicitor is fighting to either get them to do it, or knock it off the purchase price and we get it done, but **** me, its a whole pile of unnecessary ****e.

    ALSO

The world is about ****ed, volcanos and floods, ash clouds and swine flu (actually, where did this go? I thought we were all going to die of it. I got it, it was unpleasant, but that was the end of it), wars and politics, 80's fashion revival and banning of headshops.

So is this as bad as it seems, or can someone point out to me a bit of a silver lining?

I know how you feel in some ways.

But your not only one in this position people all over the world have money problems, health problems, I have them and so have millions more.

But think of people with no houses, no food.

As someone used say, there is always someone worse off then you and he aint far wrong.

Hope everything works out but remain positive cause remaining negative will get you negative results.

You had the checkup before your health problems became debilitatingly serious, so all you'll miss in a month of work not the rest of your life :)

There are nice thigns too. Like puppies.

You need to look forward to something: completed house, for example. Your good health (althogh that might be tricky, I know, judging by the bad news).

The thing about life is that it goes on. And quiet often it even gets better.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Jeez, what kind of an operation takes a month of work?

6 Million Dollar man. Jeez, do you know what that would get me? I'd be an Ipod. Not even a good one, one of those older model ones.

IF you want the gorey details, it involves cutting a section of my large intestine, augmenting it to my bladder, re opening my urethra as it has been sealed off in a previous operation, and dealing with the copious amounts of kidney infections that immediately follow it.

    Unpleasant.

The last time I had something like this done, I was one of the first in Ireland to have it done, the first properly successful one in Ireland, the operation took longer than open heart surgery, I was in IC for a week, back into a normal ward for 2 weeks, then another surgery, because I hadn't eaten in so long, my bowel kinked, and I couldn't poo.

No matter how bad it is - there is always someone worse off.

Don't buy a House, get the operation and generally keep the head down until 2012 has passed.

Houses for 30,000 euro in todays paper, you have been warned.

    Yeah, Gaviscon ain't fixing this.

    Stupid rare enough condition.

Oh, there's always someone worse off, but then if its someone else, I can laugh at them, and feel better. I can't laugh at me and feel better. When I laugh at me, I feel worse.

Out of the billions of billions of organisms that have ever existed you happen to be homo sapien.

You also happened to be born at this particular time.

You also happened to be born in a relatively well off country.

As a result you have access to: Clean water, healthy and delicious food, language, internet, computer games, hospitals, vaccines, music and books of huge variety available easily, alarm systems, pepsi, alcohol, opposable thumbs, telephones, farming, zoos, efficient security systems, porn, (relative) freedom of expression, health care, antibiotics, glasses, walking sticks, chocolate, an ordered system of time, fuzzy animals, fire, air travel, ordered road systems, law enforcement, a fire brigade, education, organised sport, imported goods, social welfare, central heating, warm showers and Ikea, amongst other things.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

As my 96 year old nan says, life's like going around in a circle, you'll be down at one moment but it'll come back around to the good time at the next, just ride out the storm
