    it's all about the 'pop'.

the business is all about illiciting a reaction out of the crowd. if you can't do that, you won't make it.

this is one of my favourites.

it still, as i say, gives me chills to this day.

I cannot find the youtube for it, but Austin helping Foley win the WWF title while DX and The Corporation at ringside. The glass breaks and bloody hell. Mayhem.

This. I posted this before but this always gives me chills. From the minute his music hits and the pop he gets until he cleans house. Brilliant.

The reaction to Paul Bearers voice saying "Ooooooh yessssss!" over the speakers in The Garden at Mania 20 is awesome.

This is my favourite as well. The amazing thing is that from the time Austin comes out all the way to the end of the show, the crowd is going ape****.

Triple H's comeback in 2002. I still get goosebumps seeing that video. Also Austin on the Zamboni. And Taker's comeback at Judgement Day 2000. The most emotional pop I've ever seen from a crowd was Jericho's title win that never was against Triple H on Raw in early 2000. Complete strangers were literally hugging each other they were so happy. When a fake sport can make people feel that way, you know you're on to something.

Cena returning at the Rumble is still awesome but hilarious. The crowd marked like hell and then remembered they are meant to hate him..:pac:

Goldberg pinning Hogan, it was like a bomb going off...

Takers most recent return at SS09' return is the best pop I've heard in the last year or two.

The pop HBK got back in 2004?? in Dublin. I remember thinking oh he wont be there since he was suspended at the time (i didnt have Sky Sports only had the usual bottom line and SD on Sky One) . So when the main event was a tag match i think Edge/HBK vs Evolution , and when HBK's music hit the crowd went crazy and so did i since it was my first house show

The Austin pop from Mankind winning the WWF title from the rock.

Actually during that time period just about any pop Austin got was off the chart.

Also two that always stood out for me were

Homicide's music hitting during the CZW v ROH Cage of Death Match

    The place goes ape $hit

    and

Kurt Angle head butting Samoa Joe during their first in ring segment together. IIRC that entire segment was off the charts.

Backlash 2000 when Austin returned to help The Rock win the title from HHH:

The magic happens about 2 mins into it. They crafted the final moments incredibly well and this is one of the longest sustained pops I can recall.

Some great videos. However watching some of them reminds me of just how mediocre the product is these days.

Listen to JR as the Rock arrives and goes to the ring. No surprise he's the greatest announcer ever. Michael Cole doesn't even have a milligram of the same passion.

Not so much a pop but for pure crowd interaction I love this match. Cena played an absolute stormer too. I never heard so much heat for one person. The intimate venue makes it all the better.

That was brilliant to watch. Loved how Cena kept it up by throwing his shirt back over and over :p

one thing i forgot to say about the Rock/Eugene clip, is that one of the incredible things about it, is that the crowd pops 3 seperate times.

    they hear the music...decent cheer.

    Rock comes out...they explode.

he walks and begs Eugene to come with him...another mini-pop.

absolutely epic, before he even says a word.

Was this a genuine pop? I mean I hope WWE didn't fiddle with the audio. I know back in that era, Raw used to be taped and I think I've read before of perhaps how they edit stuff on taped shows to make things seem better.

I remember seeing that pop for the first time on the Monday Night Wars dvd. I could barely believe my ears when I heard it.

I loved this segment when I was growing up with Stone Cold and Iron Mike.

I stopped watching wrestling just before the Attitude era (ya I know bad timing!) and didnt start watching properly again until Wrestlemania 16 but from what I know this Raw was infact taped. Wasn't this the Raw where the WCW commentator made a comment about Foley winning his first WWF Title "That will put butts in seats" which caused everyone to turn over from Nitro to Raw straight away? I suppose one of the times where having the show pre-taped worked as an advantage. But yes back on topic I'd say your right, they very well could have tampered with the audio.

I also remember the SmackDown just before the PPV, where Austin does not enter the arena, but appears on the ovaltron, outside with his monster truck about to blow up the DX express. HUGE crowd roar!

Still have that episode too on VHS. Good days!
