My credit card was stolen and while i have a replacement card, I have not activtd it yet.I am seeing if i reall need it.
I thought I was told that any direct debits/standing order couldnt be taken from it until new card was activated. I recently found out an annual direct debit/standing order was taken out from it.

    should it have happened?

Yes - the company most likely has "continuous authority" to bill your card, which means the card issuer must pass the charge on to your new details.

interesting. Thanks for that. now i can pay the bill without disputing it.
I should have called them up to cancel beforehand rather than assume what i had understood was right.
