Bathroom renovation

Hi - I've decided to completely gut and renovate the bathroom of my one-bed apartment, after about a year of talking about it. It's about 15 yrs old, but looks terriblyold-fashioned - pink fixtures, pink plastic bath, white tiles on wall and floor - enormous rectangular mirror covering most of one wall with cheap looking wooden surround. Yuck. Also, I've been having persistent problems with mildew on the ceiling for the last two years, which I blame on the (possibly defective) extractor fan. So in a nutshell I'm going to gut the whole thing and make it more modern, replace the bath with a shower, and not be ashamed to have friends using it when they're visiting.

Three questions I've had on my mind since the weekend:-

    1) How much (very ballpark) would you expect to spend on such a project? (presuming that no massive re-plumbing etc would be needed)

    2) Can anyone recommend a contractor who they've used for a project like this? (City centre/northside of Dublin)

    3) Where would be good places to look for ideas on new colour schemes and fittings etc?

Any advice from anyone who has gone through this would be much appreciated
