I plan to travel to California this summer where I will be renting a car for about 12 days. The rates on the websites indicate that insurance is included. As far as I can remember from the last time I drove in the States the rental company insisted that I buy extra insurance. Can anyone say what the likelihood of being charged extra is?

What websites ? You should have a list of the different forms of insurance that are included.

99% of the time I find that the average tourist is offered extra insurance, no matter what package they have already bought. They can insist all they like, you just have to refuse as long as you know you're covered for what ever risks you wish to be covered for :)

Usually the "extra" insurance includes theft of person items and zero excess (the minimum $$$ you pay should you be involved in an accident.)

    Hi....

I have bought Car Rental Insurance and was happy with its services.
Its good if you buy extra insurance as insurance policy too changes in different country.

But you can definitely give a try for this!
