    Hi,

Due to finish college next year with a law degree from UCD.

I am aged 38 and from reading posts relating to the difficulty of attaining a training contract I must say I am conscious of my age and it's bearing on my career prospects as a solicitor.

Would appreciate some honest opinions however blunt.

    Cheers!

I think i mentioned this before somewhere but the youngest apprentice to hit our place in the past10/15 years has been 30. Try and go for an area where your past life (ie pre law) will help you. Experience counts.

    Good Luck!

On the balance of probability you will be working for another 20 years. If it's what you want to do go for it.

I wouldnt see it as being a decisive factor, as has been said your pre law expierence should make you stand out if anything.

Think about it this way. What age will your clients likely be. Would they be more comfortable discussing intimate personal or financial matters with a kid their sons age or a mature gent with an avuncular demeanour :)

I remember applying for a management job in my early years. I had a decent CV but was short in the tooth. The recruiter actually said to me, "Sorry son but they like to see a few grey hairs in these gigs"....

    Hi all,

Thanks for your opinions and your encouragement, not always easy to know whether the decisions you make are the right ones.
