Many of the world's golfing superstars head to the European Tour this week to 1 of the biggest non majors of the year and Ernie Els has been busy re designing Wentworth for this year. All the greens have had a total makeover which has attracted back some of the stars that had boycotted the event. Key this week will be the ability to shape the ball both ways from the tee shot and being able to handle expected swirling winds. Ross Fisher is the tournament pro here.

Stay tuned to my blog for full betting preview and picks

    Headline pick
Ernie Els 14/1 - Hardly a monster of a price but since he's the designer of the course and also has a house nearby and off the back of a return to form last week, I will be backing him with the intention of trading.

    Sleeper Pick
Alvaro Quiros 45/1 - Fresh off the back of a victory a few weeks ago, generous fairways this week could suit the big hitter. A lot of the par 4's on this course are now extremely long so he will have an advantage

    and Boyles

I've done 2 bets today and will another on Friday night
This is a tough one to pick
My first is obvious,it's Ernie Els,i yhink he should be fav,€15 win @14/1

Outside bet is RJ Derksan @125/1,has played well here over the past few years, has improved his driving and ball stricking(according to himself)hopefully he can cope with the changes to the course

Betting on Ernie Els 12/1 and Lee Westwood 10/1 (e/w)

I think Lee Westwood is a safe bet as he managed to do very well in the last PGA Tour

damn it, seems to be plenty of money around for Els- only 10/1 in some places now

he was 14/1 on Monday when i looked.

This is his local course and people always say he should win it because of that bbut he never does as his form was generally useless but now his form is good.

one side note though is he no longer actually lives beside the course, he moved to Florida for his family earlier in the year

maybe mcdowell would be the bet at the prices

    question (maybe stupid)

when a bookie pays out on 6 places

does this include tied places... like if 10 people are tied in 5th, does the payout cover all 10?

you get paid, but you get paid a % of your stake,
