Drop links - 1999 Toyota Celica

    Hi, I have a 1999 VVTL-i Celica.

For some time I had a bad 'klunking' coming from the front left suspension. I brought it to a garage where I had work done before, and was diagnosed as the front ARB Drop Links. At first, he thought this would be a problem as he thought it may be Superstrut Suspension. However, it turns out that it's running standard toyota Suspension however at some stage one of the previous owners had fitted Tein Coilover Suspension.

Now, the guy at the garage said he'd get me the parts and let me know, however after two follow up calls and some time later he didn't bother, so I assumed he wasn't too pushed about my business.

I then went to Tallaght Auto Parts and bought 2 ARB Drop links for my car. I've had these lying idle for some time however the clutch has begun to slip and I left the car in to get a new clutch fitted and drop links installed aswell.

This afternoon I got a call to say that the drop links don't fit, that they are too long (from memory they are about 8" or so) and that this has to do with the Coilovers?

I won't be able to get a good look at the car/drop links until sometime tomorrow but I'm just curious to know if I'm being told the truth.

Either someone gave me the wrong parts, they are spurious, not genuine Toyota but I was told that they would be just as good and to be quite honest I wouldn't give the Toyota Dealers on the Tallaght By-pass the steam off my proverbial ****.

From my limited knowledge of suspension assembly I assumed that the stock ARB drop links would not be affected or changed regardless of addition of Coilovers? I'm more than open to clarification on this if I'm wrong, I just want to arm myself with knowledge when i go to pick it up tomorrow.

If it is a case of needing different ones (if it is indeed different from stock set-up) where would be the best place?

I hope I've been as clear as I can, with a bit of luck someone can advise me further :)

    Thanks

If the the front struts have been changed at some stage it is possible for the droplinks not to fit.
