yea so after last weeks escapade where protesters tried "storm" the Dáil gates, they're planning on having another protest this evening at 19:30. riot police are on standby and expected crowd turn out is 3000-4500.

either go to voice your anger at the government cut backs or watch some other pleb do that with hilarious consequences.

On the way home from work this evening, between 6 and 7 today, I noticed alot of Gardai were standing outside Anglo Irish Bank with some barriers in place. There were maybe 2 people taking pictures on the street opposite beside the Green and as I walked on I crossed through the park and saw more Gardai hanging around by the Famine Memorial , like in reserve.

There were also a filming unit in the location, I saw those up outside the Gaiety theatre. And I can know hear a helicopter, mostly like the Gardai helicopter, over the air right now in the area (I live maybe 5 minutes away from the park).

    What is going on?

Protest? Filming? Is the revolution underway? Will it be televised?

and the filming has been happening over the last few days in that neck of the woods.

Will be interesting to see what happens. I hope it's a peaceful protest. Violence won't gain much support I would suspect.

Can't make it this evening Alas...
Was there last week and I hope to see more bodies there tonight.
Unfortunate turn of phrase perhaps, I do mean live bodies of course.

Hopefully the agitators will not hog the headlines tomorrow like they did last week, though of course there could be some amount of trouble.
The very sight of Gardai, suited and booted, will be enough to set some people off I expect.

But what I do hope for is a greater turn out and something to build upon, so that next week it's bigger.

Then the naysayers will be bursting themselves to get to similar protests in the coming weeks, eventually swearing that they didn't support the tin pot TDs as they are booted from office :D

Hey, that's just my stupid opinion ;)

Some doubted the Berlin wall would fall, many doubted a black dude would be president of the States, some even doubted the banks would fail.

Wish the Gardai had twitter. Something like "Cork is Brilliant" or "Everybody is pretending to be Robocop lol xx".

just reading on teletext that there is a bit of trouble again....scuffles outside anglo irish and "bottles and other objects" being thrown at gardai.

Every scumbag in the city must be down there.

Edit: another update on WSM twitter..."we had to protect our right to protest" or some such drivel.

Just came from it there, a bit of a scuffle, few oranges thrown, nothing major. Some young one got hit in the face, she wasn't too happy but she was making a lot of noise. Saw that mad chap from the Frontline, looking as odd as usual. All in all, a great way to waste a few hours and get some fresh air.:D
