    Hi,

hope someone can help me. I'm trying to find out -

    1. The best type of aerial to pick up Rte1, Rte2, TV3 & Tg4
    2. what direction to point it

The house location is a VERY remote part of Co. Kerry overlooking the Atlantic facing the Blasket Islands with a large mountain behind. As you can imagine the area is very prone to heavy storms in Winter (possibly ruling out an external location for this aerial and hence possibly an attic may have to do). The Westerly part of the Valentia Peninsula is visible in the distance (not sure if there is a relay/deflector there) and after that the only visible land mass are the Skelligs and the Blaskets Islands !!!!.

The area is governed principally by Mullaghanish Transmitter but after that I'm not sure where the nearest relay/deflector is. I also have a satellite dish set up to receive the FTA channels but I do need the Irish ones too.
Will try post a map link to give you an idea of location

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=map%20of%20slea%20head&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

The house location is at Coumeenole North on the above map

Any ideas please as to what the best aerial is and what direction to point it

    Spfeno

Bugger, seems like you will nearly need a relay off a relay down in Dún Chaoin.

Go to RnaG HQ locally and have a natter with the tech there. They would know where the transmitters are for Tg4 and you can probably forget about TV3 but you won't miss it if you have ITV on satellite I can assure you.

You won't get TV3 through an aerial down there.

You could get a signal from the Kilkeveragh transmitter site. Point your aerial towards Valentia Island. Kilkeveragh is located behind Portmagee village. RTE1 and 2 TV are broadcast from there along with the radio services (not Newstalk).

The aren't any TV or radio transmitters on Valentia Island (well besides the Coast Guard!).

Does the mountain behind you extend around to your left blocking Valentia? This might cause a problem.
