    Joseph O'Connor, the author, did a book about this very subject: Sweet Liberty, Travels in Irish America, involved him visiting as many places called DUblin in the US that he could find. I haven't read it in years, but I remember at the time being disappointed as he's a great writer and the book was disappointingly mundane.

    To add to the OP;

    if the name Dublin comes from "dubh linn" (Black Pool) then:
    1. Are Blackpools = Dublin?
    2. Are the Dublins in America derived from 'dubh linn' also?

    My question still goes unanswered. Was it in GTA: San Andreas that the desrt played a significant part in the overall film?
