Pulled Quad Muscle

    Hi all,
Just a quick background 1st...I pulled my quad about 4 weeks ago, I gave it about 15 days rest doing the hot cold treatment and compression etc, went on a little jog to see how it was and felt the "pop", it was quite painful at the time so went to physio last week. I have a final to play on wednesday night and need to get back asap...she didnt so much, just massaged the scar tissue away and told me to rest etc, went back on fri and she told me to have a run over the weekend to see how it felt, it felt fine but when i upped the pace i felt it give way...the feeling is hard to describe but it was like an old rubber band that has last its elasticity...or velcro pulling away...

anyway, my main problem now is that the game is tomorrow. I am just considering loading up on painkillers for the game, its the last game of the season so its boom or bust, literally. I am fairly confident i can play if i cant feel the pain. anyone been in this situation before and what did you do?
I have those neurofen plus tablets and also Tylex painkillers, should i just load up on them and see how i get on?

    I would say no

I aint never done my quad but ive the tightest hamstrings in history which need a good 20 minutes before i can start running, while back i "tweaked" it and rice'd it for 4 days...went out for a 10 miler and bang.....pulled it beyond comprehension and was out for months......when injured..let it heal...a harsh lesson i know but a good one to learn....just my opinion!

I've have to go with the no option also, you know yourself you will just more damage by playing your match, and by masking the pain with pain killers you wont know the true extent of the damage until after you are finished, that is if the pain killers actually work of course. In the past I've tried to play matches with pulled hamstrings but its just not a good idea, you can do yourself some serious damage.

pain and pulled muscles are things that can't be advised about here I'm afraid. Best of luck.
