    Hey again:)
Does anyone know what you should be able to charge for the hire of a grass tedder. We bought one afew years ago for our own silage and several neighbours have asked us to condition their grass as they want to reduce their bale numbers and increase their quailty. You would probably have to charge on a per condition rate per acre, but what is a realistic rate for tractor, tedder, a man and diesel??

How many acres would you do in an hour with the machine? If you're not getting the equivalent of at least €35 an hour you're wasting your time.

Yeah i know what ya mean alright you would want to be earning at least 35euro/hr;). The tedder would average 8-10acres/hr depending on ground conditions and bulk of crop. It would usually require atleast 2 pass's to get the sward into anyway reasonible condition maybe three. It could reduce the bulk of the crop from 10-11 bales/acre to 8-9 bales/acre. :)

I'd say a tenner an acre per pass then if you want to go the price per acre route, the number of passes is down to the customer. I'd go for the hourly rate if I were you though, no disputes over how big a field is.

Yeah i know what you mean about the disputes about acres alright:). But if i was to go in at an hourly rate and average an hourly output of 8 acres/hr would be charging about 80euro/hr:eek: more than likely giving it 3 passes, 2 to spread it out and a single run to swarth it back into 10ft swarths i think i might get ran out of the place:D Twud be nice if it was possible to get this rate/hr you mightn't be far off i dont know tho. Does anyone know of any contractors doing this already and what they are charging??

would your customer be lads who dont have the conditioner or would your machine further improve grass cut with conditioner mower?
