Good deal on external HD, only bad thing is that it has Michael Jackson logo on it, but great price:

Both the 1TB referred to above are 3.5 externals (must use their own power source) while the 500GB is a 2.5 that is powered off the USB connection. The price of the 500GB is very good (and beats PC World's current offer for the same type of drive)

I picked up the MJ one the week before last off Amazon as well. Good size, does the job and is cheaper than the equivalent non-MJ branded ones. I couldn't care less what's on the outside so long as it does the job.

I just ordered this, €67 including delivery, Samsung is reliable and the gold design is attractive and makes it easier to find!

€75 in reads nassau st for usb-powered 500gb - more expensive but their one comes with a 2 year warranty which is pretty good and it's a local place if returning is required. got one last week and it does the job well.

Read Seagate reviews before buying, the drives are made on mainland China now and umm.. the failure rate is higher than what it used to be.

I was looking at the seagate reviews on amazon and elsewhere and I was really wary about buying one so I'm glad I found this thread instead.
