    Hi everyone.

Decided to finally get myself in shape and have opted to go to a personal trainer to help me get on the right path. I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing to be honest and I dont know what to expect from the whole thing. Has anyone here had sessions with a personal trainer? What have your experiences been like?

Firstly, relax! The trainer will want your repeat business so expect a friendly, professional and challenging day out. Hopefully they set you out on the road to a healthier lifestyle.

Have a good idea of what your goals and discuss these. A good personal trainer should also be able to discuss nutrition with you. They say 80 percent of your fitness goals are achieved in the kitchen. My personal trainer gave me exercises and nutrition advice that I can use for life, not just the "quick fix" kind of advice that gives you quick results but cannot be maintained long term, such as an almost-no-carb diet etc..

And above all, enjoy it. I had the best of times with my PT and even thought it was hard work, it was great fun too.

Just to update this, went and had first session this morning, was absolutely fantastic, delighted with the instructor. Doing 10 sessions to get me on the right track, see how I go after that.

A lot of us here would love to track your progress to see how you improve! What is the plan for the next 10 sessions? What did you do on your first session - what weights/exercises etc.

Can I ask, where did you find a personal trainer? I have great ambitions of improving my fitness and losing a bit of weight but I never seem to be able to keep up exercise on my own. I figure if I have someone to work with it will get me into a routine.
