Motor Tax Reminder

Hi,

I purchased a 3 year old car in May last year, and paid the full years' motor tax in person at the motor tax office. The motor tax is now up at the end of this month, yet I've yet to receive any sort of reminder notice. The car got it's NCT last week, being a now 4 year old car, if that makes a difference.

Am I being a bit impatient, or should I have received a motor tax demand by now? It's 2 weeks now until the motor tax expires.

My tax is up at the end of this month too, I got my reminder a couple of weeks ago.

That's cutting it close enough - I generally get a reminder at the start of the month, but you can tax it by post yourself without the reminder if you're concerned.

Mine's up the end of this month and I haven't recieved anything yet either.

Do they all come from Shannon, or the local authority?

All 3 of my cars are up next month, and only receieved for one so far. Id say the volcano cloud is causing a backlog :pac:

The last couple of times I had to renew I received the reminder 2-3 weeks before expiry. It's up again at the end of this month and I haven't received anything yet. I'd wait until the end of the week before getting too impatient.

I'm in the same situation. I've tried ringing the Motor Tax section of my County Council, but got a weird engaged type tone. Also no answer at the main County Council phone number. Seems they don't want our money!

I got mine a couple of days after the tax was due last month.. I had gone down to Naas anyway in advance (commerical tax) so it wasn't an issue. I did ask the lady about the delay, and she said (in a roundabout way) there was a backlog due to work to rule.
