    a nice gentle start to the tour ,lovely roads not a bump on them ,should be a interesting tour.

    Tom Boonen had a nasty crash but Cavendish would still have destroyed him in the sprint.
    Exciting finish to an otherwise pretty dull opening stage.

    Today's stage is a washout so far as TV coverage is concerned (although they are racing)

    ...so Eurosport replace it with coverage of the Giro, where the Italians cannot provide coverage of today's racing...

    I'm waiting for someone to lay the blame at Icelandic volcanos and the ash being spewed out into the atmosphere

    I expect them to switch to tiddlywinks any minute...

    Did the commentators get it wrong when they said it was Deignan? I thought it was him at the time but according to results he lost over 16 minutes yesterday. He must have blown altogether on the last 5km of the climb...

    Huassler was defo there and perhaps it was Pujol?
