There is one on in Limerick at the minute. I was thinking about heading up with my car. I know ill get more money selling privately but does anybody know how much i could expect them to offer for a 2001 BMW 318i?

Don't know how much, but it will be roughly half of what you would expect if you sold it privately. Would only sell through auction if desperate, did it myself years ago and again they take entry fee/selling fee/vat and poor price it'll achieve in ring it gets very depressing.

They are 6-8k on carzone.

Maybe 4500 if you are lucky? I have never dealt with them so this is completely pie in the sky. I would say have a look on carzone. Make it 500 euro less than the equivalent one on there and wait.
