    Folks

I'm curious as to where people have met their other half.

Where have you met your current/past other half?

Mods - in case you think this is not a PI, it actually is as I am having difficulty in meeting women and i think i need suggestions as to how to meet them.

online chat room years ago (mobile internet). his username made me laugh (actually...it was this username lmao! i stole it for this site) and he was one of the ONLY blokes in the chat room who entered the room and said ELLO PEEPS, HOW WE ALL DOING instead of LUKN 4 CYBOR, AM SO HRNY :pac:

you may want to stay away from the latter approach if you wish to try the internet heh.

I met him years ago through mutual friends, we used to go out in the same pubs, had friends in common, we had a fling for the summer, then went back to being friends for the past few years, before we eventually got it together last June.

I met my OH in college. When I left school I went to a college where I knew nobody. After a few months I started to fancy him and we became really good friends. Then we went out for my birthday one night and we kissed and then he asked me out 2 weeks later.

    We're still together 3 years on. :D

Right here! Well not on PI specifically, but on Boards, as have quite a few other people. If there are any forums you particularly frequent, and they happen to be having a night out, you could do a lot worse than going along. Even if there aren't many women that interest you there, you'll meet some good people and who knows, one of them might have a friend. :)

2nd year in college, he was in my course and a good friend. 7 years later, and we're still together-and the word wedding has come up in a few conversations...!

A mutual friend arranged a blind date for us over 22 years ago and we're over 20 years married. My inlaws have never forgiven her ;)

In a pub in London where we worked. One of my buddies knew her crowd, i went along for a drink, and we met. Been with her ever since.

TBH, in my limited experience it's less about where one meets them than it is about one's mindset & how one approaches the occasions of meeting people. I was just lucky that I was in a happy, chilled-out mood (as was she) when we met.

    Good luck.

My oh, was a mate of a girl I used to share a house with.... he was over the odd time and he barely talked to me... I really thought that he was up his own arse.... then my mate got a job in the states and she had a leaving party... at this party my oh asked me if I wanted a drink.... was in total shock as he never showed any interest in me at all..... but his other mates that were there that night said that he never bothers with just any girl... only ones that he really likes. we talked the whole night about well crap!!! the rest is history.. moved in together after 3 months and are nearly together now 3 years and have a baby on the way.... Its very true what they say.. it happens when you least expect it!!! Funny thing is I wasnt even gonna go to the leaving party.... had another offer.. good thing I chose well.!!! (:

At a korn concert. Believe me not a fan of Korn!!! One of my friends really wanted to go as she's a big fan....I said I'd go as none of our other friends would go with her (thought I'd do my good deed for the year)!!! Tried to come up with every excuse under the sun not to go the day of the concert but ended up going. And there he was.....we're getting married next year!!!! If you can meet someone when you're scared outta your wits, in the middle of the mosh pit at a korn concert you can meet someone anywhere!!!

Definitely true what they say when you least expect it......BAM :D

Started renting in the house he was renting in and hit it off. Although it wasn't love at first site. He couldn't stand me for the first few months and then he got in a spot of bother and I was the only one he could turn to. He started liking me then but still took a further year for me to catch on.

In the mess in the barracks where he works. I went out for a drink on the spur of the moment with my sister and brother in law (also in army) and he was there having a drink. He would have known my sis and BIL so he came over and sat with us and I remember thinking 'oh my god, state of him' but we were all chatting away and I did think he was very funny. At the end of the night he got a Chinese delivered and he kept trying to give me chicken balls

Anyway, the following week I was away and he asked my sister for my number and he text and called to ask me out so I said I'd go as my sister assured me he was a nice guy. 5 years on we're still together, have a house and a child. He still makes me laugh all the time. I'm glad he had the nerve to actually call me up and ask me out.

When I were 12/13 he asked to kiss me in the park - I said no!

When I was 15 we worked in two different shops on O'Connell St and used to "randomly" pop into each others shop on lunch! We were supposed to go out on a date but it didnt happen

When I was 20 we met at a 21st party and now its nearly out 1 yr anniversary :D only took us 8yrs to get together!

Current one I met at my friends house, she was staying there while looking for a new place to live, she was my friends sis's friend :)

Girl before her was in a nightclub, tbh I was smashed at a class party and couldn't remember what she even looked like, ended up going out with her 9 months, shuda ended it way sooner, but I'm not saying you can't meet someone good in a club :)
Friend of mine met her's in a club and they're still together 6 years later.

Stop searching, you'll miss it altogether.

I met my BF when I was by no means looking for a relationship at a Paramore gig, to which we both got free tickets :) Just bumped into each other in the smoking area [NOT SUGGESTING YOU TAKE UP SMOKING!] He didn't believe that I'm 20, he lost the bet, had to run around with his pants around his ankles... hahaha :)

You don't have to smoke to visit a smoking area, I often keep my smoking friends company and it's a great place to have a chat... Than again, not sure I'd like kissing a smoker

My boyfriend was in my course in college, we started going out towards the end of second year. It's been over three years now

    through a friend!

first few times i met him he was so quiet, i thought he was so rude because i was chatting away to everyone and he was practically unresponsive. Turned out he was shy around me cos he liked me. Still together a year later :)

I met my girlfriend on the street after a night out. I saw her immediately as I left the place and she was being chatted up by some other lad. I went straght over to her and started talking away to her for a good half an hour, I gave her my details and she gave me a call. We are still the same a year and a half in. She's the best thing that has ever happened to me. :)

    Nightclub - five years ago!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

We met in the womb! we have known each other forever... we then grew up on the same street and were boyfriend and girlfriend when we were like 10 or something then we officially got together at my 18th bday party, 14 yrs later were still going strong, you have ups and downs along the way no infidelities happened but i think a couple will stay together if they grow together! i went to see a psychic guy who said we were soul mates and knew each other in past lives, i dunno but soon i will have lived with him longer than my own family.
