Hi,Built our house almost 4 years ago - bungalow on own site. The problem is the sound of the wind in the roof and chimney. Even on moderately windy day the roof sounds as if it is being 'lifted'. It is very disconcerting. Does anyone know if there something that can be done to rectify this? Also the noise of the wind in our open fireplace in the sitting room is unbelievable at times. Is this normal? Appreciate any advice.

Would suggest if you are that worried you get a structural engineer to thoroughly check over your roof structure to ensure all is correct.

With regard to the wind and the chimney, I'm sure there is probably some sort of cowl that could be fitted to the chimney pot to reduce noise?

it may be cheaper to hire a roofing carpenter to have a look in your attic.

maybe buying cheap created the problem.....

OP, get a structural engineer.... they will have the insurance to take responsibility for the remedial works... a tradesman wont be able to do this.

IN my opinion, the ventilation requirement is too much for exposed areas and can lead to problems as discussed. Poor sealing between roof & living areas might be the problem then.
