I've decided im going to get one of these.

Just wondering where is the best place to get it.

I have priced amazon,ebay.ie,ebay.com and the local electrical shop in town.

Cheapest so far is around €200....is there any sites out there that would have them cheaper ( shipped to ireland )

Use a vat number and buy at shop price-cut out the retail rip off merchants. Don't buy it in 53degrees north, infact don't buy anything in that rip off place-just saw my Garmin at over 200e more than I paid!!!

It's too early to buy one. Wait a few months, and the price will come down. Or else buy a 405 for cheaper, and simply don't use the features that the 110 doesn't have. If you buy a 110 now, prepare to pay over the odds, and expect software bugs (or at least that's what history has shown*).

    * Past performance is not a guarantee of future results. :)

    Thanks devotional,that sounds ideal.

This thread is pure Krusty bait....knew i would draw you out.
Once again your probably right, makes sense to get the 405 for less and just use the basic features.

    405 is Shi*te!!!
The bezel is a horrible device and they have gone back to buttons again. The reason-buttons actually work!

I'd back Krusty on this, I'd much prefer the simple buttons on the 110, the bezel on th 405 is annoying as feck, but the 110 is missing a couple of vital features imo. Auto-lap is a must for me, I set in on mile permanently. Also the 110 appears to be missing the ability to adjust the info to overall rather than lap. I need current pace, overall time, overall distance. The autolap then gives you the last mile time for 5 secs and a beep to tell you to look.

The 110 doesn't appear to allow any of that, which is a let down. If it was just the 405 if the new package I'd move over to it in a hearbeat.

I am using the forerunner 50 at the moment....that has autolap...and like you i have it set all the time.
    If the 110 doesn't have it,thats strange...

What about the 205 and 305....whats wrong with them ?
    Cheaper again.
The 205 looks big but has 4 different bits of info on the screen....
    305 ? ? ? ? ? ?

I have had them all except the new 110 and the 310 is the best-bigger screen and buttons that work but lighter and smaller than the 205/305. You cannot see the 405 that well as it's very small.

I like the look of the 310xt...but they are very pricey...lowest i could find online was €232 from australia.
Would it be wasted on me though as i dont swim or cycle ?

I would have thought the 405 was the one to get but a few posts not reccomending it surprised me.

Now i dont know what to get.

the 110 has auto lap and as you're running gives the predicted time at end of each lap.no problems so far and i've been using it for a month now.

thanks for that, was sure it didn't, but I'd actually misread the specs:o:
    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=63511&ra=true#specsTab

It's 'auto pause' that it's missing, the one above autolap in the spec list. Not as big an issue (although it's great to have also).

I guess the only issue for me then would be the lack of customisable screen.

I'd still go for the 405 if price is the same between them.

The earlier models are all way too big, stear clear of them. The 305 was fine in it's time, but the 405 is much quicker to work and much more comfortable to wear. The only issue with it for me is the bezel. Which I just don't use on the run.

the 205,305 and 310 are very bulky looking to me.was waiting for the 405 to come down more but when i saw the 110 for the price they were selling it for at the expo i went with that.probably wouldn't have used a lot of the features of the 405 anyway.also i see people had issues with straps with the 405's,the strap on 110 is a fully moulded one.

As long as the 110 is a fair bit cheaper it's the better option of course. My ideal one now would be the 405 in the 110 form factor. Which hopefully garmin are bringing out soon...

The 110 for €150 is definitely a good buy, but for €200 I reckon the 405 with the extra functionality that some runners might grow into is the right purchase. Best thing about the 110? You don't need dongles, drivers and ANT+ technology in order to upload your runs, just the USB cable (this also gives you an extra week of standby batter life). Garmin just don't understand the principle of keeping it simple.
