This guy rebuilt a mk2 XR2i, great info on the site

    http://www.zetecinside.com/xr2/index.shtml

Sensible option for your mk3 would be not to bother with the Sierra parts, stick with FWD till you know more,
find a silvertop zetec from a pre 98' Mondeo, rebuild the top end and enjoy it

the 1.8 and 2L are great engines, very easy to work on and bolt straight on to the IB5 gearbox you have

Plus if you know anyone in the trade you can get genuine Ford parts dirt cheap,
ebay too has a lot of genuine new parts for well below RRP

I'd have more experience with mk6 Escorts and mk2 Mondeos then Fiestas,
but Ford being Ford a lot of parts are interchangeable

I'd say a lot of the popular mods for a mk6 Escort could be used on your Fiesta

    - 16" Cosworth style Mondeo alloys

    - 300mm front brakes
(mk3 Mondeo calipers, Focus ST170 Discs, mk1 mondeo hoses)

    - rear hub and 260mm discs from a 2L Focus
(custom handbrake cables, puma brake hoses)

    - 220mm AP Racing organic clutch
( from an Escort RS Turbo S2)

    - Polybushings form Flo-Flex

    - APEXi universal Power Intake Filter

    and on the Cosmetic side

    - Painted rocker cover
(£20 off ebay often in whatever colour you want)

    - Silicone cooling hoses
( cheap off ebay if bought by the meter)

I wanted an aluminium intake pipe with silicone elbows but never did much research, raw materials are cheap off ebay

Also here are some possibilities with the silver top engine, basic rough guide of tuning options

    http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=130410

Some guys on a Mondeo forum added individual throttle bodies form a Suzuki GSXR 750 mapped by a piggyback Megasquirt ECU
got serious results from it too, expensive option though

Have a look at these sites too, plenty to read

    http://www.fiestaturbo.com/articles/zetectuning/

    http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/

    http://www.burtonpower.co.uk/

If you can do the labour yourself the lot could be done pretty cheap
and what you'll learn will last forever

That's a great idea. Saw a fella in England drop a TVR engine in to Ford Fiesta. So good luck.
