Anyone ever replaced the shafts in the irons? Any idea how much it might work out at??

Yes, but the price can vary a lot dependent on what you are replacing them with and what you are trying to achieve in replacing them.

i reckon you should be able to get dynamic golds for €25 euro per shaft and rifle maybe a tad bit more, whats wrong with the shafts that you ave at the mo'

I would go and get custom fit they do that at the range I use called Kinsealy grange driving range I dont know how much it costs but it would be worth it.

Just trying to figure out what options I might go for. I'm pondering changing equipment as my current irons have served me well but I am starting to feel that they suit the swing I used to have and not the one I have now. My ball flight is terribly high which is great on a calm day but gives me major trouble in the wind. My shafts have a low kick point which helps launch the ball higher so I was wondering how much it would cost to keep the same head but replace the shafts.

To be honest, I think I'll just change the whole lot and I am looking at the Mizuno MP-52's. Anyone have any experience with them?

I have been in touch with Foregolf and I am a little shocked at their response. The are certified Mizuno "Swing DNA" specialists, but they tell me they don't use the system because it is really meant for outfits that don't have any experience or knowledge of how shafts work or how to fit properly. Personally, I find a little unlikely.

Also, their fitting charge of 50 euro per half hour is still payable even if you buy clubs from them. And the MP-52's would cost me around 340 euro more than anywhere else in Ireland. About 890 euro including fitting versus 540 in Halpenny or 495 in Mcguirks say.

Now, I know a local golf shop might not fit as accurately as Foregolf, but since I play alot and have a very good idea what I need both in terms of loft, lie and length and shaft flex and bend profile it's a little hard to justify the extra 350 squid!

Anyone else have experience of Foregolf prices??

Each to their own I guess. Yes it may seem a little pricey at Foregolf but don't underestimate their expertise. I haven't been there yet but I do intend to. Go see them, get fitted and take your specs some where else to buy the club (I am guessing they will let you do that?)

From my experience of being fitted in shops (in the UK) the ranges don't seem to be that available over here unless you are a Titleist player (I am) and then you can go to Carton House for a fitting.

What handicap do you play off? And what do you want to play off? Don't underestimate what the best club fitter in the world can do for your game.

I know you're all correct!! My wallet just doesn't really want to believe it.

I'll see if I can get a fitting and take the specs away with me. If I can then I will definitely do that. I just can't warrant buying clubs from them if they are going to be 70% more expensive than anywhere else.

I play off 7, down from 20 over the past 2 1/2 years. Ball striking is pretty poor overall and it is short game that has got me to where I am really. So the quest for better iron play is really becoming a major goal.

70% extra is allot, in anyones books. From your above posts it looks like you have a decent understanding of what you need and where you would like to be. Take your time and suss out all the options and opinions available to you.Good luck in your search.

describe your strike pattern and ball flight including backspin, curvature, does it start high or low, affected by wind much, fade, pull, draw, push. etc. etc. etc. ??? and maybe someone here can help you in some way. I would say that unless you go to a good custom fitter you are wasting your time completely.

In fairness, if only a good custom fitter is worth the trouble, then I wouldn't think this forum will give me many answers. No disrespect to anyone intended.

My original clubs were fitted when I had a pretty different swing to the one I have now. So, from that point of view it will probably be worth my while to go back to the beginning and start again with no ideas of my own and see what comes out of it. I would expect a higher kickpoint, flatter lie and shorter shaft than my current setup. But I should try not to necessarily lean towards that wherever I go I suppose.

There are a lot of really good custom fitters out there but it is really the ones with better facilities that will give the best results. Places like Foregolf (I assume) have pretty much every option you could think of for you to try out, so you can be fairly sure you'll get the best you can find. That's what attracts me to them. Also, I have heard many say that they are just as likely to tell you that what you have is already perfect for you and you shouldn't change it, instead of just flogging as much as they can get away with.

But, that means I should be willing to pay more for the fitting and in fairness their fitting prices are very reasonable. But, I still wouldn't feel that that means I should be happy to pay hundreds more for the clubs to be made for me.....

    last piece of advice...
only get a flatter lie if you hit the ball cosistently to the left with the shafts you do decide upon.

I am in fact waiting for a call back from Foregolf as I have told them I want a fitting but would probably buy my own shafts in the states as I am on holiday there next month, the lady on reception wasn't sure they would do that and is going to get Derek to call me back, she did mention that for them to do the work on re-shafting my iron with shafts I provide it would take about 6 weeks as the workshop is full to capacity.

Thanks for that. My old setup was 1.5 degrees upright which with the longer shaft was effectively more like 2 degrees. Eventually, I started to realise that many, otherwise well struck mid and short irons were going pin high 10 or 20 yards left. Eventually had the lie reduced to half a degree upright and the problem went away.

I'll be careful about going too much the other way though.....

Wow. That's interesting. Wasn't told that. Since it'll take about 3 weeks to get an appointment, and another 6 weeks to get my clubs, I might be waiting till the winter. Besides, no way I can go without my own clubs for a month and a half now...

    Hmmmmmm.............

No I think they keep time for making the clubs they fit and supply. I was straight with them and said I would be supplying my own shafts.
