Hey I am travelling to Dallas next week, booked flights with Expedia and it is handled as such:

Dublin to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Dallas Forth Worth.

I am just wondering does anyone know what happens in terms of your bags - do you just check them in in Dublin and and then they're looked after until Dallas or do you have to collect them in Amsterdam and recheck them in? The layover is only 1hr 20mins so am a bit worried If we've to pick them up in Amsterdam and go through check in again given the time contraints...

As long as both legs of the journey were bought together as part of one ticket then your bags will be checked through to Dallas.

I would check with your carrier. Since you're crossing jurisdictions, you may have to collect them in Amsterdam, bring them through customs and then re-check them. However, since you're travelling to Amsterdam from within the EU, this may not be necessary.

In general, where you have to re-check your bags, this doesn't involve queueing at the check-in desk again. You usually just go through customs and then hand them to a guy who's waiting to collect them - your bags are already checked through.

Yep. As Seamus said, worst-case is you have to collect bags and carry them to a different drop off point but this won't be the case for an internal EU -> US flight.
