Yep, in Navan and have no broadband since about 11p.m. last night. Is it an area issue???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 414 ✭✭Paddyo

Just been told by Vodafone to change my username and password to vodafone@vodafone.ie and broadband respectively

Not at home at the moment - will try it later

Why on earth would you need to do that? Bizarre.

Same problems in Clonsilla since 12 midnight last night. Random disconnects for the last 3 weeks actually.

Time for a change, never had a problem with BT until they switched to Vodafone.

    Maybe related to this: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055909732

Having the same problem with BT 24Mb in Blanchardstown.

Anyone got a response from Support yet?

Slightly off topic, but, where exactly in Blanch are you? I'm curious, as I'm in Clonsilla village and seem to be on the main blanch exchange, which has been a disaster for the last 2-3 weeks for me

I am the other side of N3 (Warrenstown). I am on the 24Mb package so using unbundled equipment in the Quinn building across from exchange.

Only noticed the problem this morning.

Having intermittent issues. Will have net access for a little while, then it will disconnect, and reconnect again later. While, disconnected I am not getting a WAN ip address. Been happening the last couple of days, and it has happened for a day or 2 before.

Never had these kind of issue with BT. I am seriously considering moving, due to the truly terrible level or service.

    **EDIT**
Just to add in Dublin 8.

The technical support line has a new message - they are currently experiencing difficulties in the 01 and 046 areas and are working on them.

Can't get through to an actual person at all.

Symptoms above are exactly what i am having.

    Very strange.

Cheers for that. At least we know something is happening.

Me also, to the letter. Started at 12 midnight last night.

Time to give UPC a ring methinks. Never had a single problem with BT, but since the switchover its rubbish.

Would think about UPC but don't want their TV. Love the Sky+ system and UPC version is too awkward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84 ✭✭miftha

not sure if this applies to all or just 24mbit LLU (I'm in Swords)

They told me they made changes to the configuration and need to use a new username and password

user: homephone no including area code(with no leading zero)@vodafone.ie
    pass: broadband

so if home number is 012233445 username is, 12233445@vodafone.ie

I am back up and runnnig for now!!

    That did it for me.

What a pack of idiots for making the changes and not telling anyone.

Got to be a contender for "Shoot yourself in the foot" award of the year.

yeah, but you dont need to take the TV package anymore - theres a BB and home phone pack, 5, 8 or 30MB. So you could switch and still keep Sky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 414 ✭✭Paddyo

We are back up and running again.

Changed username and password also, but did not need to use our phone number - just used vodafone@vodafone.ie

Lets see how long we last

We are on the 24mbit package also but can only get 6 because of the lines.

Yes, but deal not nearly so good.

It would be €50 a month for 15Mb BB Plus phone similar to what i have with Voda.

Will have to think about it though.

Couldn't agree more, useless shower. Plus their prices are not better for me, costing more so opened a complaint with COMREG/Vodafone, taking for ever with Vodafone to respond. So UPC will be getting my business as soon as I can switch!

Oh wow, that is really bad, changing log in information, and not telling the customer. In full agreement with those above, that doing that was really stupid.

Not at home right now, but will try it, when I get home, and hopefully that will sort out my issue.

Just seen that those prices are for when adding BB to existing TV customers. Otherwise an €7.75 surcharge applies.

Just got back online as well - used phonenumber@vodafone.ie .

    Pretty unbelievable cock-up.

Do we know if this is just on the 24Mb package.

Anyone on another package had the fix work for them?

Unbelievable. This is a story worthy of the One O' Clock news

Lots of friends and family on BT/Voda. Better get the word out.

    thx

Navan went down around 11pm last night. Back on now. I had to use new password - myphonenumber@

Despite the change to Vodafone, I was left on an ESAT server. The new password has put me on a Vodafone server.

Speed is still what I usually get:

I lodged a complaint with Comreg at the start of the month because as an ex-BT customer I cant get the same packages as Vodafone customers. 7mb package with calls is €52, for ex-BT customers the same package is €60 + a new 12 months contract. Comreg told me that Vodafone should be in touch, I havent heard squat.

The final straw was this sh1te last night and today, I had to ring them in order to find out I needed to change my login details. What a shower of t0ssers. I have never had such poor product service and customer service from a company in all my life.

I reckon Eircom will have to do me, UPC dont do phone in my area :(

Got it sorted out using the new username and password. Pretty damn silly of vodafone, for not telling people. Thanks for the help everyone.

    hi
where do you enter new password and username?
this is crazy stuff. Upc will be getting my business.

You have to log into your Router. Normally http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1

Username & Password for router is normally:

    User: admin
Pass: 1234 or 12345 or admin or password or Password1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭HoldStady

    Thanks. That worked.

Got no warning when I was switched from BT broadband to Vodafone.

The following details worked for me on my Linksys.

    Encapsulation: RFC 2516 PPPoE
    VPI: 8
    VCI: 35

    UserName: vodafone@vodafone.ie
    Password : broadband

Vodafone will only support BT Voyager modems according to their tech support.

My BY Voyager has that funny thing that it always disconnects after 24 hours and no matter what setting I have, I have to log into the router and hit the connect button again. Even firmware update didn't help.
Not to mention that down the hall in my room (20 meters) I have zero Wifi...worst Router I had so far.

Can't wait to get Apple's TimeMachine (includes Airport Express).

Does anyone know if Eircom does this?

Does what? Disconnect your broadband and force you to log in again.?

    No, just dodgy router

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 207 ✭✭hobbit stomper

It's 24 hours on the spot though. I hope it's not BT/Vodafone that forces the disconnect. I kinda got use to it after 10 months, but still annoying.

It probably is BT/Voda resetting the connection but the modem should reconnect automatically.

They reset the IP addresses regularly but most people do not even notice.

Problem with your router not reconnecting.

Check the properties of your router to see if the "keep alive" setting is enabled, on the Linksys it appears under the PPPoE settings.

Not sure if this applies to the bt voyager, but it might be a starting point. :)

I have read that others have tried many different routers and they all disconnect, not one reconnected automatically?

Are you on Vodafone, what router do you use to avoid this?

Yeah, I check all the settings. Also that one and keep alive is and has always been enabled.
I guess it's just like Shane said, a faulty router.
