Working as a Treasury Dealer

If someone starts off as a trainee treasury dealer in an Irish bank what are the long term career prospects like? I mean you wouldn't earn anything like the boys in the city do and retire at 35+ but I would assume that there is a high level of burnout too? So what do people tend to do once they hit mid 30s/40+ as a Treasury dealer?

    Thanks.
