Radarvirtuel...Any better sites or ways of finding a plane in the air right now?

I've been looking at that radarvirtuel.com site to try and see if i can spot a flight that im waiting for to arrive here in Dublin. It seems like a good site for checking where flights are while there in the air, although I cant find the flight im looking for. Can any of you guys recommend anything better? Is there any other sites similar to that, maybe one where you can enter the flight number and search for what your looking for?

    Thanks for any help, cheers

What i can only suggest to you is the Dublin airport website for Arrivals/Departures as i cant think of anything more then RV.

Also that Aircraft just may not be showing up/transmitting to people who upload flight info for Radar Virtual for any amount of reasons.

This Casper - live aircraft tracking is very good. But it only works for individual airports. Still quite cool though

There's an app for the Iphone which can show aircraft on radar, I believe. But that's as much as I know about it.

I found it in the end, when I swithched to google chrome instead of internet explorer it seemed to work a lot better. I just put in the airline name and i got it then...

    Thanks

Radarvirtuel no longer shows the planes destinations - is there a reason for this?

Each Aircraft is visible for at least 4minutes on Screen if they lose contact with that Aircraft they wont show it anymore eg destination/aircraft id.

The site is dependent on feed from enthusiasts with equipment that can receive sbs transmissions from aircraft. The data does not come from official sources, so I assume that there are not many people in the USA feeding such data to the site.

Ah i see. Thanks guys. Was just a passing wonder really.

But when its enthusiasts that do it, it makes ya wonder how there is that many of them to keep it running 24/7.

I did read the radarvirtuel recommend you don't use it with IE as it can't handle the info/program or something along those lines

Next time your at an Airshow in the UK/Europe just have a look at how many of them have Scanners/SBS Boxes/Aerials, my dad seen lots of them at Manchester Intl and if they are using those just to spot it gives you a general idea.

I'm actually tracking my wife and daughters flight down to Faro at the minute :D
EI-DPX Von Ryan Express. Once I know they're safely on the ground in Portugal I can relax;)

Id say its just a mistake in the airport code. Id say it it supposed to be LGW which is one of the codes for London Gatwick.

    EDIT: From Gatwick's arrivals info;
    13:05 FR114 DUBLIN EXPECTED 13:25

Well, almost, he's just 19-20mph short of the speed of sound at that altitude.
Them 747's are still the fastest commercial airliner AFAIK.

You generally have the wind behind you flying east so tailwinds like that are not uncommon. In winter when its stronger you could have a groundspeed in excess of 600 knots for some of the journey meaning Boston-Shannon is possible under 5 hours.
