I know there is derroura woods just past Oughterard, but are there others?

I met a guy at derroura and he said they were extending it soon? He also said there may be a new one being developed in or around moycullen? Is this true?

Finally I believe there is a nice flat trail out in Clarnbridge, but I've not been there yet.

Also are there "forbidden trails"? Google doesn't show me much...

Its a good spot not overly hard but you cycle the whole time no major free wheelin spots. We go alot during the week not as many walkers, worth a look.

There's a spot in Ross Woods near Rosscahil, past Moycullen.

There's some routes into the woods off the forest tracks, try a few and see where they take you.
Last time I was there, about 6 weeks ago, there were a few marked with yellow tape.

The Connemara MTB Allience was formed a while back and they are in the process of planning an extention to Derroura(as in marking out the route) and developing trails in other Coillte forestry in Connemara/Joyce Country.

Sorry to be digging up ancient threads but is their a club or club group around galway set up? I do alot of road but the winter might see a return to the mtb.

There is a mountainbiking area in moycullen as well, just down the road from MBW in the woods there there are several trails and combined are a great run.

Some nice little trails but short however it is used by a lot of walkers who are happy to let their dogs shit everywhere.
Worth bearing in mind if you transport your bike to & from in your car/van.:mad::mad::mad:

Brobe and Westport Wheelers have MTB sections to their clubs;
Maybe contact them as Ballinrobe is close enough to Galway and might be different trails.
